Hawaii Vacations - The Hawaiian Islands
Hawaii is very large, the Hawaiian Islands stretch over 2400 km in a northwesterly direction from the southern tip of the Island of Hawaii. The eight main Hawaiian islands are, listed here from south to north: Hawaii (also called the Big Island), Maui, Kahoolawe (not ihabited), Lanai (or La-nai), Molokai, Oahu, Kauai and Niihau. Oahu is the island that is visited by the largest number of tourists, closely followed by the Big Island.

The Hawaii weather on all Hawaiian Islands stays very consistent, with only minimal changes in temperature throughout the year. The average daytime summer temperature at sea level is 85 degrees F. (about 30 C) while the average daytime winter temperature is 78 degrees (about 25 C). Temperatures at night are approximately 10 degrees F. lower. The trade winds on Hawaii provide a cooling breeze. They freshen up as the heat of the day rises and reache a peak in the afternoon and then slow down and diminish in the evening and start again the next day.

The water temperature in Hawaii's near-shore waters: The average water temperature is 74 degrees F. (about 23 C), with a summer high of 80 degrees F. (about 27 C). Wave action varies dramatically between winter and summer, and between island coasts, wave conditions are often very localized, so if there is too much or too little surf on one beach, you can usually find calmer water at other beaches. On Hawaii you'll allways find a spot where 'surf's up!'.
